EOLA-AMITY HILLS AVA
ORGANIC & BIODYNAMIC PRACTICES

Established in 2016 by Shelby Perkins, Bracken Vineyard spans the western benchlands of the Eola-Amity Hills at 630–750 feet in elevation, offering sweeping views of the Willamette Valley. The vineyard is rooted in a diverse mix of volcanic soils—Nekia, Ritner, Witzel, and Jory—each imparting unique characteristics to the wines. Initial plantings focused on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with 5x7 spacing, followed by an expansion in 2019 with additional Chardonnay at 4x7 spacing. In 2021, after a significant vole attack required replanting, the vineyard grew by 3.26 acres, adding Aligoté, Pinot Meunier, and more Chardonnay.

Bracken Vineyard is farmed organically, with biodynamic practices introduced in 2019 to enhance soil health and ecosystem balance. Its exposure to the cool Van Duzer winds helps extend ripening while preserving natural acidity, producing wines with structure and precision. A diverse selection of clones was chosen to emphasize site expression over clonal identity, allowing the vineyard’s distinct terroir to shine. With young vines still coming into their own, Bracken is a site full of promise, producing Pinot, Chardonnay and Aligoté for Walter Scott and other top producers who share a commitment to crafting wines that embody the essence of the Eola-Amity Hills.
